Born November 17, 1768, in Bern, Switzerland, Gottfried Mind was a autistic-savant who specialized in drawing cats; befittingly named "Der Katzen Raphael" (The Raphael of Cats).
Gottfried Mind was sent to an art academy at the early age of 8 years old. Where he came under tutelage of the artist Sigmund Heisenberg. The story goes that while Heisenberg was drawing a cat Mind blurted out, "That is no cat!!". Undoubtedly annoyed, Heisenburg sent Mind to the corner and incite he do better; the rest, as they say, is history.
